Coupons don't stack, don't apply retroactively to a ticket you already paid, and don't apply to sublet work like machine shop resurfacing or wheel alignment sent out to a partner.

Here's a real comparison on a common job — front brake pads and rotors on a 2018 Silverado 1500:

The chain's bigger coupon produced a bigger bill because of what it required you to buy. That's the whole trick. A $100 coupon that forces a $340 upsell is a $240 loss.

This section costs us money. It's still true.

Skip us if you only need a conventional oil change and nothing else. Quick-lube shops on Highway 50 and Northern Avenue routinely run $19.99 conventional specials and get you out in 22 minutes. We take 45–60 minutes because we do a 27-point inspection you didn't ask for. If your car is 3 years old with 30,000 miles, that inspection will find nothing and you'll have spent $5 more and 30 extra minutes. Our oil change is worth it on a vehicle over 80,000 miles, where the inspection actually catches things. Under that, it's often not.

Skip the diagnostic coupon if your check engine light just came on and the car drives normally. AutoZone and O'Reilly on Pueblo Boulevard will pull the code free. If it's P0442 — a small EVAP leak, frequently a loose gas cap — you just saved $89.95. Tighten the cap, drive 3–5 warm-up cycles, see if it clears. Don't chase our coupon across town if you live in Avondale or east of the airport. A $30 coupon does not cover a 22-mile round trip twice — drop-off and pickup, roughly 88 miles of driving at $0.31/mile in fuel and wear, about $27, plus 2 hours of your life. The $100-off-$1,500 coupon should make you pause, not celebrate. On a 2009 Corolla worth $4,800, a $1,500 repair is 31% of the vehicle's value. Our coupon brings it to $1,400 — still 29%. Coupons don't cover the failure modes that actually cost you. A $50 discount is meaningless if the shop misdiagnoses. The national comeback rate on driveability diagnostics runs about 8–12% industry-wide. Ours is under 4% on the last 12 months of tickets, and we eat the labor on a comeback that's our error. That warranty is worth more than any coupon on this page. Ask any shop you're considering for their comeback policy in writing.

We can't discount what we can't control. Parts prices moved 14–19% between 2023 and 2026 on common components. A remanufactured 6L80E transmission that was $2,650 in 2023 is $3,150 now. No coupon closes that gap, and any shop promising otherwise is either using a lower-grade unit or making it up on labor hours.

Big tickets. That's where percentage math works in your favor:

• Transmission rebuild or replacement, $2,400–$4,200. $100 off, plus a real 3-year/100,000-mile warranty on the unit. Local conditions change the math in ways a national chain's coupon template ignores.

Altitude. Pueblo sits at 4,692 feet. Naturally aspirated engines lose roughly 3% of power per 1,000 feet, so a stock engine here makes about 14% less than at sea level. That means your engine works harder at the same road speed, and it makes a marginal ignition or fuel-delivery problem show up as a driveability complaint sooner than it would in Kansas. • "Is this quote book time or actual time?" Book time means you pay the guide's hours regardless of how fast the tech works. Most shops use book time. That's normal — but know which you're paying.
• "What's the warranty, in months and miles, on parts and labor?" Ours is 24 months/24,000 miles on most repairs, 36/100,000 on transmissions. "Lifetime" warranties on brake pads usually cover the pad only — you still pay 2 hours of labor to install the free pad.
• "What happens if the repair doesn't fix it?" Get the answer before you authorize the work, not after.

Print it, screenshot it, or just say "I saw the coupon on the site" when you drop off — we'll apply it. Mention it at drop-off, not at pickup; we can't rewrite a closed invoice through the shop management system without voiding and reissuing, which delays your pickup by 15–20 minutes.
